The trouble I have with comparing modernist ideals with traditional ideals is that eventually, what we perceive as “modern” will one day be considered traditional.
No?
What if 100 years from now, future civilizations will look down at the certain lifestyles or philosophies that are widely held in today’s humanity?
What are we doing wrong?
Modern. Or traditional.
Everything is technically modern until time forces it to become obsolete. Time eventually forces everything to a state of obsoletion.
I suppose the only thing we can do is to continually evolve, and continually question our “modernist” ideals. Only then can we be sure that we are not trapped in the past, in the most literal sense.
Question everything.
