Appreciation of what happens in life
I missed my connection because my flight to Toronto was delayed by two hours
I sulked for 10 minutes, realizing now that my ETA to Vancouver went from 10 PM to 1 AM. 3 more hours to my commute
10 minutes of feeling bad for myself.
Then I had a great dinner at the airport
Then got some reading done
And then saw an old high school friend I hadn’t seen in nearly two years. We reconnected and I got to learn about her experiences at U of T. We chatted for roughly two hours.
It’s funny because just as I missed my connection I thought to myself: okay, now I have three hours to kill, how can I turn this situation into a positive one? Appreciation of your situation is a hard skill to practice. But it’s a good one to have. A 3-hour delay isn’t even that bad in hindsight. There are much worse things that could have happened today. In hindsight, it all worked out pretty well. Everything else fell into place
