Man.
I wish we could just be friends.
You ever meet those people that you admire only from a distance?
They like the same songs as you.
Have the same morals, ethics, life principles.
Like the same Netflix shows. (The Office!)
Maybe they play an instrument you really love. (Shoutout to string instruments. I’ve been trying to play more violin recently because I’ve been admiring other people’s musical capability too much).
Or maybe they just have that charisma.
But the thing is, I don’t want a fake friendship founded on admiration.
Sometimes, I fall in love with the idea of a friendship before I get to know the person. And this is a recipe for disaster because when you set unrealizable expectations, you are bound to be disappointed.
OR you might project your disappointment with other people.
Either way, it’s a surefire way of losing a friend.
Relationships are founded on authenticity.
So be genuine. Be yourself.
So I hope you’ll still like me for who I am and be my friend because I think you are really cool. And if not, that’s okay, because I already have friends who like to binge Netflix and The Office with me. Okay. I have one friend. Now I just need to figure out how to keep him…
