Daily Blog post 273: Where is the party?
We got lost today.
But “lost” has more of a negative connotation.
And often, being “lost” isn’t on purpose.
Today, we explored an area we didn’t know. We had no idea where we were going but we were still enjoying ourselves.
We bumped into this open square, like a mini-park, where a lot of middle-aged and elderly people have gathered around. On the side, a giant stereo was blasting Chinese pop music, while everyone else in the square was dancing.
It felt like I was in a club.
Some people were moving to the rhythm. Some people were just bopping. Some people looked like they had never danced before, but were enjoying themselves nonetheless. Some couples were dancing together ballroom style and really looked like they knew what they were doing.
My 4 other guy friends and I stood in the middle and danced. We definitely stood out and got a few gazes, but we were having fun. Some of the Chinese locals cheered us on, but most of them were also doing their own thing, enjoying their time, not worrying about anything else except the present moment.
It was 10PM on a Sunday and there were so many people enjoying themselves.
We got lost today.
But just because you don’t know where you are going, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself while you search.
