I used to label myself as an “aspiring magician, writer, and investor”
But now it’s just “Jeff Wang, Magician, Writer, Investor”
If I write “aspiring”, it means that I am not doing it. It means I haven’t been able to become what I want to do yet.
“Aspiring Writer” gives me excuses to not put myself up to the high standards of the title.
“Aspiring Investor” doesn’t even make sense for me to say, because what have I been doing for the last year then?
“Aspiring Magician” suggests that I don’t believe in my own skills.
I am a writer, magician, and investor. I do all those things and I need to embrace those titles.
Don’t be aspiring; instead, just be.
