Shooting a 3 pointer gives you more points.
Wouldn’t it be great if your team got 3 points every possession, and the opposing team only went for layups worth 2?
But why, on a fast break, (when you are completely open and by yourself on the other side of the court) does every player except Steph Curry choose to go for an open layup as opposed to an open 3-pointer?
Because layups are guaranteed.
Shots in under the basket have a much higher % of going in.
It’s fun to shoot 3 pointers, it is. It’s high risk, high reward, and cool.
But don’t forget to go for those wide open layups when they present them. You need to give yourself a win once and a while.
I only wish someone told that to Jr. “Hennything is Possible” Smith.
