Before you invest in the stock market, it’s one of the first rules you learn: “history does not guarantee future performance”
History can be daunting, especially when numbers and statistics have been involved.
Particularly in sports.
In 2016, no team had ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA finals in a 7-game series. Until Lebron James and the Cavs decided to break history.
Tonight, in a 7-game series against a team that had an 83.3% win rate at home, and had won all 3 home games against Lebron James and the Cavs, Lebron James yet again proved history to be wrong.
History is fascinating. Studying ancient civilizations, studying past successes and failures, historical people and documents can teach us many things. However, if we only look at history to determine what will happen next, then nothing new will ever happen. Don’t let the past determine what is possible in the future. Records need to be broken. History needs to change. At some point, there needs to be a blip in the timeline that tells a different story.
