I am going to Singapore tomorrow
In August I flew 5000 miles to spend my first semester at Villanova University, in Pennsylvania
Still, I somehow managed to sign myself up to study abroad again, despite the fact that I was already studying abroad as an international student at Villanova
I was afraid to go to Villanova back in August
I was afraid I wouldn’t make any friends, or that I wouldn’t fit it, or I would get hit by cultural shock, or that I would get hit by a car (though I hold this fear everywhere)
Back in August, I didn’t want to leave the comforts of my home. I sometimes questioned whether or not leaving home to pursue an education was rationally worth it. I was afraid that I might not be making the right decision and I might not make the best out of that opportunity.
This time I don’t have that fear anymore
Sure, I might not make friends immediately. Or maybe I’ll do worse in school. Or, god forbid, I get hit by a car. (Perhaps what I should really fear is the heat…)
But I know that leaving my comfort zone is how I can evolve, and I know that I WILL make the best out of this opportunity.
This time, I don’t have that fear holding me back, and this time I’ll do my best to make the most out of my time in Singapore. This time, I know that I’ll be going into unfamiliar territory, but I also know that I will grow from this experience, just like I did from my first semester at Villanova.
Time to go head first out of my comfort zone.

Grateful Day 9: I am grateful for my parents who offer me the chance to have all these amazing experiences, like studying abroad in two different locations in 1 year.
Another often overlooked way to study abroad in Japan without a large price tag is precisely by typically enrolling in a language course, rather than the traditional semester abroad academic programs. The Japanese Language Programmed by Peace Boat.
