Inspired by Seth Godwin’s response on Tim Ferriss’s Podcast Radio Hour
You can ruin your whole education with this one sentence:
Will this be on the test?
When you begin to ask that question… and you think to yourself “well this is too hard… oh wait, it’s not going to be on the test? I’ll just not learn it”
When you begin to be worried only about what is being tested and not about what knowledge you could be learning, you start to learn less and memorizing more.
When test scores are the only motivation for you to learn, then you begin to throw love of philisophy, wisdom, knowledge, and education out the door.
In modern civilization, what’s “on the test” can now be found by a simple Google search. Instead, begin to foster a love for knowledge and critical thinking. Learn outside of the confines of a test.
