Warming up

Anytime you do something for the first time, it won’t be perfect.

In basketball, it’s called first-time jitters. Some basketball players airball their first shot and miss really badly when coming off the bench. Then those same basketball players then manage to score the next 2, 3, 4 or more shots in a row.

Give yourself to warm up to things. Everyone gets first-time jitters. Don’t expect the first shot you take to sink; what’s important is you had the courage to shoot it even though you knew your arms were frozen cold from sitting on the side and you’d probably miss. Everyone needs a warm up, even the pros.

Here’s a cliche, but:

“you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”– Wayne Gretzky and often used by Michael Jordan
